At our 15th September meeting we concentrated on the announcements of new iPhone and Apple Watch models at the recent “Wonderlust” event.
Wonderlust
We discussed Apple’s announcements from their recent “Wonderlust event”, these included:
- The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
- The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
- Other news including:
- iOS 17 is releasing on 18th of September and macOS Sonoma on 26th September.
- Apple withdrawing all leather accessories and replacing them with a new FineWoven material.
- Cases and accessories for the new models have been announced.

We discussed the advantage of the new 48MP camera in the iPhone 15 over the 12MP in the previous iPhone 14 model. DaveK found this comparison article from Tom’s Guide posted when the 48MP camera was introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro last year.
DaveK mentioned the improved call quality on the iPhone 15 Pro with voice isolation. This prompted Ben to talk about the service Moises (available on the web and as an app) which can separate musical parts (such as vocals, drums etc.) from a music track.
“From Hong Kong to Wickford” at St. Andrew’s Church, Wickford
SEAL member Ann-Kay is organising “From Hong Kong to Wickford - A Multifaceted Pictorial Display with Stories” at St. Andrew’s Church Wickford. The display runs from 25th September to 16th of December. Viewing evenings with refreshments are being held on 29th September, 2nd October and 6th October. A flyer with details of the display and special evenings is available.
