DaVinci Resolve
DavidB showed us an impressive video he made in the DaVinci Resolve video editor by manipulating and animating over an existing image.
He also mentioned the recently added Photo page which brings advanced still photography tools to DaVinci.
DavidB suggested Casey Faris on YouTube for DaVinci Resolve tutorials. Casey also has a free beginners course with practice media available on skool.com.
DaVinci Resolve is available free without watermarks or significant limitations, there is a paid version with additional features.

- The DuckDuckGo browser now blocks YouTube adverts on Mac and iPhone.
- MacOS 28 will drop support for encrypted Mac OS extended drives.
- Apple increases prices on most products due to rising chip costs.
- Apple Intelligence camera features in the Home app require iCloud+ with 2TB (£8.99/month)

- DaveK asked about website hosting options for a non-technical user. These services were mentioned:
- Ferrers gave an example of a website a friend had created using Weebly.
- DaveK showed us a photo he took in London including the new Google Platform 37 building.
- DaveK mentioned motion album art now appearing in Apple Music. Union Innovation has some good examples.
- DaveK mentioned Dixon of Dock Green and the filme “The Blue Lamp” where the character first appeared.

- Liz asked for help stopping her iPhone from turning on in her bag. We suggested disabling Tap to wake in Accessibility/Touch and Raise to wake in Display & Brightness settings.
- Liz had experienced a Kernel panic on an older Mac. We talked about the issue and how it’s much rarer on modern Macs. Ferrers pointed out that one of the reasons for this is Apple phasing out 3rd party kernel extensions.
- We talked about an AI data centre planned to be constructed in Wickford.
