iPhone Photography

This meeting was held on Friday 13th Match 2015. It featured a presentation on iPhone Photography and the iOS photography apps CameraBag and Snapseed.

News

This month’s news discussion covered all the announcements at Apple’s Spring Forward event including the Apple Watch release date and the new MacBook.

iPhone Photography

Ben, SEAL’s resident professional photographer, gave a talk on getting the most out of the camera on the iPhone (and other iOS devices such as the iPad). He covered a variety of topics including controlling exposure and focus, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and applying filters. The talk also included a section on methods of supporting your iPhone such as using a bracket to attach it to a tripod. Ben showed the Joby mount he uses for this.

This topic was particularly pertinent as Apple have recently launched their Shot on iPhone 6 campaign highlighting photos and video taken with the phone.

CameraBag iOS

Ben also mentioned that he now has the iOS version of Camerabag (a photo editing app he demoed for the Mac at the October meeting which he finds very good. Presets that are created on the Mac can be shared with the iOS version when syncing via iTunes & vice versa.

Snapseed

John showed Snapseed, a very good free iOS photo editing app from Google.
